Was kann uns der Apfel über Biodiversität sagen?

The apple for us is a great example to explain the value of biodiversity. This humble fruit stands for the importance of biodiversity, something that affects all of us, not just apples. Take a quick look in your local supermarket - there you might find up to eight different varieties. Does that sound like a lot? We buy just a fraction of all the existing apple varieties that exist. The diversity is huge, as each apple variety is as unique as the history of its development. And equally countless are the stories behind the types of fruit, that we have perhaps all come to take for granted. We find it is now high time we tell these stories. When did you last bite into an apple? And what did you really know about this apple? When taking a closer look, we see the apple is connecting us on so many levels - agriculture and the food industry, but also climate change, culture, history, identity and memories - you will find the apple everywhere.
