We are increasingly losing our connection to the food we eat and the knowledge of how to prepare it. Our nutrition is ever more determined by industrialised and rationalised production methods. It is time to resist and give food the respect it deserves. The project Mensa 3000 aims to create fundamental change - in our minds and our stomachs!
In an art school, the topic is of particular importance, as access to quality nutrition and a positive food culture has an impact on the development of the individual’s capacities for perception and expression. It can positively influence other creative areas and also strengthens the school’s sense of community.
The core of our plan is to not only improve the food on offer, but to completely remodel our canteen into a self-organised operation. On the one hand, this should be organised in a professional manner, but on the other hand, should also involve all the members of the art school with their diverse backgrounds and knowledge of different cuisines. This way a place will emerge where also social and culinary experiments can take place, that can create new internal and external links, and which reconnects our nutrition with all the processes of its production, delivery and preparation in a way that is sustainable.
